Like what we do? Join us and register your membership!

Anyone can become a member of the PLN– you don’t have to be a law student, or involved with Monash University- although only students at the Monash Clayton campus may be ‘ordinary members’ with voting rights at our General Meetings and the ability to nominate for vacant Committee positions.

We run elections to decide the Committee for the following year during our AGM, which is usually in September. Following this, at the end of the year we also open up applications for our 3 sub-committees (Events, Careers, & Marketing).

A membership also gives you access to our regular newsletters, which advertise upcoming events and initiatives (like our Public Interest Careers Mentoring Program, open to PLN members), volunteering and career opportunities, as well as the PLN’s recommendations for books, podcasts, or news articles on social and environmental justice.

PLN’s Social Justice Snapshot

The posts involve ‘snapshot’ summaries of important events, court rulings, social justice issues and so forth to provide the audience with a brief understanding of important topical issues.

Existing posts have covered:
Ecofeminism, abolition, marriage equality in Australia, the criminalisation of wage theft, 2021 Federal budget, Medevac refugees, the rule of law, access to medical treatment for transgender children, worker’s rights and modern slavery, changes to the Australian curriculum, harms of plastic waste, the gender pay gap, and much more!

You can see all these snapshots and more on our Instagram page here.

Do you have an idea for a Social Justice Snapshot? We would love to hear it!
Submit your idea here, and we will be in touch- either we could make a post out of it, or we could supervise you to bring the idea to life yourself!
